Those Union-Busting Democrats

This is such a classic story. The Washington Post reveals that the Democrat led Senate voted to privatize their cafeteria service because the public, union run cafeteria has lost money for 37 out of 44 years it's been running. Dianne Feinstein called the food and service "noticeably subpar"

Even funnier is that the House turned their cafeteria over to a private company back in 1980 and has since received $1.2 million in commission as well as food and service that draws many from the Senate.

If only the RNC was savvy enough to use this stuff in commercials.

UPDATE: Jonah Goldberg has written a great article about this ironic turn as well as a few other notable government failures.

It's not just that the cafeteria is loosing money, they don't want to raise prices because they would be the ones paying the increase. Unlike raising the price of living in the US (taxes) they have built in enough tax loop-holes for themselves that they don't have to pay those increases.
