Add Another Universal Healthcare Horror Story to the List

Check out this story from Britain, where a mother pregnant with twins was transferred between four hospitals in five days (250 miles in all) because the hospitals lacked the needed equipment.

At the end of the whole ordeal they still had to take one of her babies to another hospital because of a lack of incubators.

Still think universal healthcare sounds like a good idea? The US is already facing a shortage of 35,000 to 40,000 primary care doctors by 2012. All the touchy feeliness in the world won't change the fact that making healthcare "free" will cause the kind of resource scarcity here that Britain experiences every day.

More Good News From the Pump

This story by Dick Morris is a must read.

I'll admit it's not a subject I'm terribly knowledgeable about, but if he's on the money about this it's good news. What he lays out is how the slumping oil prices are creating hardship for all the right dictators (namely Chavez, Ahmadinejad, Morales, and the general Russian machine).

He points out that many of these leaders are not so popular in the first place and could easily fall out of favor with their electorates if the goodies they pass out (paid for by plump oil revenues) were to dwindle. He suggests that oil prices will stay low as these dictators increase production to maintain their spending status-quos.

In my mind this is all the more reason for our leaders to ditch the whole "green recovery" nonsense and charge full steam ahead towards squeezing out every last drop of oil that we can. All we have to gain is a lower cost of living for our citizens and a crippling of our worst enemies - a no brainer?

UPDATE: Via Conservative Grapevine comes another more detailed analysis of the situation as it pertains to the Middle East. This one's no more rosier for the dictators, but it's also suggests future problems for the West in dealing with the military adventures such economic strife could give rise to.

Gun Control Arguments Blown Away By Reality

This is one of those stories you keep in your bookmarks and pull out whenever you need to take a breathless gun control advocate down a notch.

A woman who was raped by a man last Saturday shot and killed him as he broke in her house again six days later.

Remember that in places like Washington D.C. it would have been illegal for this woman to have a loaded gun in her home as recently as last year. After hearing of a case like this such laws should strike you as tragically unreasonable.

Note also that her attacker came back after only six days. In her case she had a shotgun-a less likely choice for a single woman- but if she had been so spooked by the first rape that she'd rushed out to buy a more likely handgun for protection then... In Missouri they have a mandatory waiting period for handguns of "up to seven days". Who knows, she might not have lived to see her permit approved. (In IL, MA, NJ, and NC the wait period is "up to thirty days". In NY it's a whopping six months.)

It just goes to show that these issues are nowhere near as cut and dry as gun-control advocates would like to have you think.

Weighed Down By Union Work Rules

THE 22lb. list of union regulations that GM is subject to.

Some on the web are suggesting that the wages UAW workers command may not be as detrimental to their competitiveness as are the union regulations (regarding demotions, transfers, task delegation, etc.) the company is bound to follow. By the looks of the photo above that may well be true.

Will Illinois Corruption Finally Stick to Obama?

With the spectacularly audacious corruption being uncovered in Illinois Governor Rob Blagojevich's case I can't help but wonder if any of the Obama faithful -now hopefully sobered by time and several quickly broken promises- will at least validate the concerns of those weary about electing a Chicago machine politician to the most powerful seat in the world.

The idea that Obama can spend 20 years in and around the Chicago machine- and not only survive, but thrive- without being either complicit in or willfully blind to massive corruption is fantasy.

Here was a governor putting a US senate seat literally up for sale. If it was "for sale" then it's also impossible that the whole Democrat power structure wasn't fully aware of it and even likely that it was business as usual. After all, there's no point in putting something up for sale to the highest bidder if you don't publicize it.

Damn Good Quote

I was reading an article about Obama's choice to send his daughters to an exclusive private school in DC when I came across this quote by Polly Williams. She is the woman credited for initiating the voucher school project in Milwaukee. What a great quote

'The president shouldn't be the only person who lives in public housing who gets to send his kids to private schools.'"

Too Liberal to Say "NO"

As I've pointed out many times before, liberalism will eventually lead to a point where it is virtually impossible for the government to say "no" to any outlandish request. Nothing will be too absurd when everybody believes the mantra : Who are we to judge? When victimhood is so lionized that success and fortitude lose their appeal, we will resign to retreat from all that sets the Western World apart from the rest. Britain's got a huge head start.

In yet another in a virtually endless stream of mind numbingly unfathomable stories from our friends across the pond: British courts gave three inmates a roughly $17,000 settlement because they were not provided with heroin (which they were addicted to) while in jail.

The Shameful Rationing of Health Care

This article from the New York Times sheds some light on the rationing that is inherent in any universal health care system. They look into Britain's universal health system where some people are being denied life-extending drugs because they're too expensive.

In the United States, such people would have the option of joining higher premium pools in return for nearly unlimited care- not an ideal option, but at least they have an option (besides dying). In the British system however, everybody is tied to one another through socialism, hence your best interest can be passed over for "the greater good". Before anybody gets all bleeding heart about it ask yourself this question: Who among your family would you sacrifice to "the greater good"? I can foresee some mother-in-law jokes in my head, but you get the point. The government should not be in the business of picking winners and losers.

The first law of economics is the law of scarcity: that there will never be enough of anything to satisfy everyone who demands it. When government runs your health care all your hard work, saving, or sacrificing is suddenly worthless. If some bureaucrat decides a 55-year old would get more years out of a heart transplant than your 60-year old grandfather, then that's that. Your grandfather could have never missed a day of work in his life while the 55-year old could have contributed little or nothing to the system- doesn't matter.

That's how you get a story like this one: A Oregon woman who was a part of the state run health care plan, was denied life saving drugs because they were too expensive. Instead they offered to help her commit suicide. Seriously. Doctor assisted suicide would be less expensive and would leave more money for "the greater good".

So the next time you consider calling a conservative heartless for resisting universal health care, be ready to tell them who's expendable in your family.

Denied Letter to the Editor

Sour grapes I know, but since I took the time to write it I thought I might as well share it. Below is a letter to the editor- or Voice of the People as it's called in our paper- which I submitted twice to the Kenosha News weeks before the election. Unfortunately it wasn't printed and my efforts were for naught

In one campaign stop Barack Obama told what he probably thought was an endearing story about how his 6-year old daughter always confuses the lyrics of rapper Snoop Dogg’s song “Drop it like it’s Hot”. She apparently thinks the song says “Drop it like a Sock”. Sounds cute enough till you wonder what she thought about the four times he uses the word “pimp” and refers to police officers as “pigs”, or the seven times he uses the “N” word in the same song. I wonder what she thought when he referenced the Crips street gang, suicide, smoking pot, “killers”, his AK-47, and making “the girls get naked” in still the same song. When she does understand- as her 9-year old sister likely already does- she may just ask why it is her daddy –a Harvard educated Presidential candidate- would listen to gangster rap at all- much less with her.

On the criminal proclivities of today’s youth this paper’s editors ask “What’s going on?”. How rich. Committed liberals like Mr. Obama and themselves have passed on no chance to “define deviancy down” by chiding any penalty or even stigma for pathological behaviors. In particular they cheered the welfare state that made fatherless homes profitable, then hamstrung the police and schools charged with cleaning up the ensuing mess by putting political correctness before common sense. The rest of society has, and will continue to pay for the moral relativism so fashionable on the left in which literally anything can be explained away- even a president/messiah who has yet to mature past gangster rap.

Another Radical Obama Alliance Uncovered

It is just beyond belief that something like this wouldn't make the news. Here's a United States Senator actively campaigning for a presidential candidate of another country and nobody even heard about it. Even if you put aside the fact that said candidate promised to apply Sharia law, even if the candidate was not educated by communists, even if the candidate didn't name his son after Fidel Castro, this is newsworthy.

Check out this video about the Kenyan radical Odinga and how Barack Obama was campaigning for him within the past year.

Democrats Own the Financial Meltdown

It's All Coming Together Now

This article on a recent study of vegetarians/vegans must have some very self-righteous people rather conflicted.

MELBOURNE: Scientists have discovered that going veggie could be bad for your brain-with those on a meat-free diet six times more likely to suffer brain shrinkage.

This explains a lot- particularly the existence of the Green Party.

Great McCain Radio Ad

I've got to hand it to McCain's advertising team, they're doing a great job of getting key points across.

Disturbing LA Times Article

The LA Times has an article today about a Canadian doctor who's "warning" people that Sarah Palin's new found visibility may cause more women to pass on having abortions.

As it stands, 9 out of 10 babies suspected of having Down's Syndrome are aborted in Canada. Apparently any less than that is unacceptable for our most compassionate liberal friends.

Great, To the Point, McCain Ad

Matt Damon Needs A Kick in the Teeth

Though I still have no idea why celebrities are interviewed on such topics in the first place, Matt Damon went on a tirade against Sarah Palin.

He called the situation a "bad Disney movie" and bemoaned her lack of experience. He apparently took it as self-evident that Obama had more experience.

Not that I cared for him before, but I certainly won't be giving any of my money to his future ventures.

Interestingly enough Damon has been the figurehead for this new Darfur initiative that pleads for across-the-aisle cooperation in dealing with Sudan.

Note to Matt: "Good Will Hunting" was a movie. We don't really think you're some pensive savant who's pronouncements mean anymore than anybody else.

Russians Who Prefer Hard-Line Ex-KGB Types Also Favor Obama. Hmmmm..

A poll of Russians finds that they like ex-KGB Prime Minister Vladimir Putin, a man who has a penchant for making his critics disappear- literally. Oh, and they also prefer Barack Obama.

33% of Russians polled said they would vote for Putin if given another chance against current president Medved, though oddly a full 44% would not say how they would vote. It would seem to me that 44% abstaining suggests a climate of fear in which those who don't back Putin at least won't dare go on record as rejecting him.

Obama recieved four times the support of those Russians polled than did John McCain.

So people who prefer a hard-line, authoritarian style government that crushes dissent also prefer Obama. At least conservatives aren't surprised.

Yeah America, Listen To This Guy

At MTV's video music awards last night British comedian Russel Brand (how he's considered well known enough to host an awards show is beyond me) called George Bush a "retarded cowboy" and mocked teens who swear off sex and remarked "a little sex every once in awhile never hurt anybody" (in an extreme case of irony, this guy has gone to rehab for sex addiction).

He also added this: "please ask of you, people of America, please elect Barack Obama, please, on behalf of the world."

Here's a link to the story, and another one.

Palin Derangement Syndrome

Here's a quote from one of the moonbats over at the Democratic Underground, showing just how unhinged the choice of Sarah Palin makes them:

"I will attack her for whatever reason suits the purpose of making her look bad to my audience.

When I am among secular people I will attack her for being a religious zealot. When I am among people from church, I will attack her for being of a heterodox denomination. When I am among liberals I will attack her for her conservative views. When I am among conservatives I will attack her for her for anything they are prove to view as shortcomings in ideology. When I am among women, I will deride the obvious pandering of her nomination and the fact that McCain must not think much of womens’ intelligence, when I am among conservative men who dislike women in authority, I will rub their noses in it.

If I can attack her for opposite reasons over the course of an afternoon, I will consider it an accomplishment.

Same goes for Johnny Boy."

Of course the Daily Kos couldn't let themselves be outdone. Here's a sampling of their "discourse" via Ace of Spades:
"If health insurance for all, an end to the Iraq War, an end to torture and illegal wiretapping, and a sane energy policy can be obtained at the price of destroying one teenage girl, her family, and the surrendering our self-respect I see that as a cheap trade."

And:

"Are you telling me that you would not use character-destroying lies to ensure a war against Iran does not occur? . . . What choice do we have? When faced with monsters, we have to be monstrous ourselves."

And:

Are you telling me you would not destroy the love a family holds for one another, even if it meant letting someone who would destroy the constitution become president?

As Gagdad Bob from One Cosmos said, in what is easily the quote of the day:

"..hell hath no fury like a leftist who encounters a female or African-American who doesn't need him.

Something About the Politics of Fear....

Jonah Goldberg had another great article today, this one on the rampant gloom and doom at the Democratic Convention. Here are some of my favorite clips:

To hear the Democrats at their convention this week, you would get the sense that a recession is merely a technical term for the worst human misery ever visited upon a once-great people. You'd think Americans were listening to the Democratic speeches as they huddled around their kitchen tables - if they hadn't already been used for firewood - deciding which of their children to pack off to the orphanage and how much tree bark they can afford to eat next week.

But while Americans don't like the direction the country is heading, and hate high gas prices, they're pretty satisfied with their lives. Some 94 percent of Americans polled by Harris Interactive this month said they were satisfied with the lives they lead. According to Gallup, only 9 percent of Americans are dissatisfied with their jobs and only 13 percent are dissatisfied with their job security. The unemployment rate is at a five-year high of 5.7 percent, but it wasn't long ago when that was considered close to full employment.

Montana Gov. Brian Schweitzer, borrowing a line from Obama, complained that John McCain wants to give "$4 billion in tax breaks for big oil?"

No. McCain wants to lower the corporate tax rate to make us more competitive with our rivals. Yes, oil companies are included, but by this logic (as my colleague Ramesh Ponnuru notes), Obama's middle-class tax cut will be a tax break for hookers and serial killers.

FINALLY

Todays liberals have for some time now been parodies of themselves. Now we finally have a Hollywood parody of the parodies.

David Zucker, one of the guys who brought us Airplane and the Naked Gun series, has done a parody of our lefty friends. The movie is called "An American Carol" and in the spirit of "A Christmas Carol" follows Michael Moore (played by Chris Farley's younger brother) as he's visited by three angels (Kelsey Grammer, Trace Adkins, and ?)

This movie's definitely getting my money. Even if it stinks I'm going twice just to remind Hollywood that there's a whole market out there they've been neglecting for years.

Here's two previews:

Hardworking Democrats Pushing a 4-Day Work Week For Federal Bureaucrats

As if federal bureaucrats didn't already have it good enough with "Cadillac" benefit packages and jobs almost impossible to get fired from, now congressional Democrats are suggesting they work a four day work week.

The reason they cite? "Saving gas". Really, what can you say about something like this?

Here's the link. I'm more or less speechless by this point. How this party even still exists, much less finds supporters is baffling.

Another Week In The Life of Hopelessly Liberal Britain

Last week's edition opened some eyes. Well it's another week and there's another boatload of liberalism run amok in Britain. This is what happens when nobody can stand up and say "NO" anymore, relativism is the fashion, and everything is tolerated except "intolerance".

Once again I have to ask: Is this really the direction you want to go?

This is July 15th -July 22nd's moonbattery:

Times of London

Two London police officers were beaten by a mob of roughly 30 people after aksing a girl to pick up her litter. The policemen were unarmed as so many British police are.

British unemployment rate is apparently huge. From the London Times: "The Goverment has set itself an ambitious target of raising the employment rate (of the working age population with jobs) from 75per cent to 80 per cent, while taking a million off incapacity benefit by 2015."

British law gives women a full year off of work with 90% pay. Not surprisingly this has led businesses to hire less women of childbearing age.

A new British government report finds there are more than 1,000 laws which allow police to forcibly enter a citizens home. The list includes "high hedges", and to checking the energy rating on appliances. 430 of these laws have been added since 1997 when the Labour Party (Britains version of the Democrats) took power.

The British Government is poised to propose a ban on happy hours at pubs.

Daily Mail

A man's car is stolen and the theives crash it into a police car. The man is made to pay for the damage to the police car.

Woman who killed baby by throwing it against the ground walks free as judge says 'I am satisfied you will live with the knowledge and guilt every day of your life ".

Customs official who lost the data of 25 million people is given nearly $5million government pension.

School plans to remove all unhealthy items from bag lunches brought from home.

2.5 million foreigners enter Britain each month. Government study finds only 600 visitors are checked against Interpol criminal records EACH YEAR! (Even France checks 7.4 million).

British government plans to record "every phone call, e-mail, text message, internet search and online purchase."

New government guidelines require British police to respond to emergencies within THREE HOURS and burglaries within THREE DAYS!!!

350 knife assaults occurring every day. This doesn't include those among kids 16 and under, which are frequent.

Thugs stab a Shetland pony named Blondie 40 times for fun.

British Government foots half the bill for 'torture porn film' featuring teen group sex called "Donkey Punch".

That ought to teach them. Labour Party says underage criminals can avoid court if they apologize to their victims.

Government reports that 658 govt. owned laptops have been stolen from the Defense Ministry alone in last four years.

Man finds knife 50 yards away from a murder scene and is told by police to throw it away because they are too busy.

Hopelessly wedded to unions, the number of government workdays lost to strikes has tripled to 84,000 EACH MONTH since Labour Party's Gordon Brown took over in March.

Unions now give the Labour Party 9 out of every 10 dollars it takes in. In return Union leaders have turned over a checklist of 130 demands of the Prime Minister.

Peking Duck is banned in Britain by EU regulations that deem the special ovens are not good for environment.

The full list of 1,000 plus statutes that allows the British government to enter a home or business.

All state schools set to teach Muslim traditions in citizenship class while state will employ a panel of Islamic scholars. Muslim students to take citizenship classes from Imams in local mosques.

Obama Removes American Flag From His Plane

First he refused to wear the customary American flag lapel. Next he scrapped the presidential seal and re-made it with his name. Then he just thought he'd give a speech in front of the old Berlin wall as if he was already a world leader. Now he's removed the American flag that once adorned the tail of his plane and replaced it with his trademark "O" symbol.

This man's ego is gynormous.

Bravo To Robert Downey Jr. and Angelina Jolie

Anytime someone in Hollywood has the guts to question the lockstep liberal orthodoxy of the Left Coast its a cause for celebration.

So hats off to Robert Downey Jr. for saying this in an interview with the New York Times:

"I have a really interesting political point of view, and it's not always something I say too loud at dinner tables here, but you can't go from a $2,000-a-night suite at La Mirage to a penitentiary and really understand it and come out a liberal. You can't. I wouldn't wish that experience on anyone else, but it was very, very, very educational for me and has informed my proclivities and politics ever since."

Hats off as well to Angelina Jolie, who when asked in an Entertainment Weekly interview what it's like to work with a Republican (Clint Eastwood) replied:

"Actually, we don't disagree as much as you'd think. I think people assume I'm a Democrat. But I'm registered independent and I'm still undecided. So I'm looking at McCain as well as Obama."

A Week In The Life Of Hopelessly Liberal Britain (There's Still Time For Us To Avoid This)

Barack Obama is "embarrassed" that we Americans aren't as multi-lingual as Europeans and no doubt most of our liberal friends could only dream of a more European style society here in the states. But while naive Americans romanticize about a European utopia, in reality the place is becoming a parody of itself.

I went through hundreds of stories in one newspaper (The Daily Mail) from one country (England) during one week (7/5-7/12) and came up with enough examples of absolutely insane liberal moonbats, ass-hats, and public policies to make anybody think twice before voting to move the U.S. in the direction of Europe.

Some of these stories are so ridiculous you wonder how Brits let their government get away with it. You must remember that you don't need a lot of radicals to cause havoc. All you need is a general liberal mindset that prizes "nonjudgementalism" as the highest virtue. Such a society is then powerless to make a stand even in the most common sense situation for fear of "judging" or being "insensitive".

Here's just a one week glimpse of where liberalism will ultimately get you
(Click any link for the whole story):

-A government funded agency is recommending children as young as three years old be reported for "racism". This includes saying "yuck" when eating unfamiliar ethnic foods.

-His house was pelted with rocks for two years. When he finally chased the punks British police arrested him instead of them.

-A prisoner warns that if he is released he will commit more sexual assaults. Britain lets him out anyway so he stabs and rapes a woman within a week.

-Days after the highest judge in the country called for Islamic Sharia law to be allowed in Britain, the former head of the Bar Council publicly agrees.

-A popular tourist spot is afraid to trim its bushes for fear of "discriminating" against gay men who like to have sex behind them.

-The founder of a children's charity blasts how unbelievably politically correct Britain has become.

-Punks vandalize a WWII Memorial, when a woman tackles one she is arrested and convicted of assault.

-Amid a crime wave of gypsy thieves, British police are told to celebrate gypsy culture in the name of "diversity".

-Britain has a TV show that depicts fundamentalist beheading nonbelieving infidels...except the fundamentalists are Christians.

-Popular British website charges roughly $190 for tips on how to fraudulently get govt. disability benefits.

- London's mayor dons a pink cowboy hat and leads the Gay Pride March. Non-discrimination is one thing, but celebration is another.

-Compulsory sex education to begin at age four in government schools.

-A cancer victim needs a judge to order the "universal" health system pay for her treatment (She didn't win the postcode lottery) Yes, they have a lottery system to decide who gets treatment and who doesn't.

-The British Government has begun giving public employees "performance bonuses". The bonuses are huge and even employees at miserably failing agencies got them.

-You have to wait years for a liver transplant in Britain, but that doesn't stop their National Health Service from selling healthy livers to Greece for cash.

-Brother of one of London's 7/7 bombers is given free trip back to Pakistan "to improve relations" between the countries.

-A businessman sees a thug smash a window. He grabs the thug and calls police. The thug punches him in the face. Police get there. Who gets arrested? This is Britain, the businessman of course.

-British police dogs will now have to wear plastic boots during searches to avoid offending Muslims.

-Multiple sclerosis patients also on the postcode (zip code) lottery system to decide who gets treatment.

-One in three British women report sleeping with TWO OR MORE guys during each vacation.

-Two students reprimanded for refusing to kneel down and pray to Allah during a public school class on religion.

-Britain strictly monitors what foods may be advertised during children's shows. Diet Soda and chicken nuggets are okay, but raisins, bran flakes, ketchup, and instant oatmeal are found too unhealthy. ???

-A man who built his own $1.2 million dream home is going to have to tear it down because it's 2ft too high for the neighborhood's liking.

-British judges are told they should stop jailing people for burglary because it is not a serious offense.

-Executives of the BBC, the British news channel run by the government, are given pay raises despite being caught up in a fakery scandal (Yes, when the news is run by the govt. that's called a conflict of interest)

-Forty percent of new teachers in Britain quit due to poor student behavior and endless bureacratic red tape.

-Such sticklers for regulations, some British hospitals are putting boots on ambulances that park too long. Then there is of course the ensuing ambulance shortages.

-The National Health Service has hired a coordinator whose only job is to help their employees find ways to get to the building. Yes, there is a bus stop in front of the building.

-Liberals need more people dependant on the government or they won't get elected. But people dependant on the government tend to be lazier than most and don't care about voting. So what to do? Free doughnuts and cash prizes from now on at the polls.

-"In 1996 - the year before Labour(Britain's version of the Democrats) came to power with tax and benefit policies based on the doctrine that all kinds of families are equally acceptable - 38.7 per cent of babies of British-born mothers were born outside marriage. By 2006, that had gone up to 49.4 per cent, some 266,000." Now it has topped 50% for the first time.

-British Government regulations require applications for air traffic controllers be offered in braille.

-And.....To show that this insanity is in fact the result of years of liberal subversion and not innate to British DNA, here's a story about the leader of the Tories (Britains version of the Republicans) and his call for sanity in the face of this nonsense.

Minnesotans For Global Warming

These guys from a group called Minnesotans For Global Warming have put together a couple music videos mocking the global warming alarmists and even pointing out that climate change- whatever the cause- has both an upside and a downside.

The first video is set to "If I Had A Million Dollars" by Barenaked Ladies and the second is set to "Imagine" by John Lennon.

Obama Is Afraid To Claim American Exceptionalism: What His "You Need To Make Sure Your Child Can Speak Spanish" Gaffe Says About Him

Obama shows his true colors in this clip where he suggests Americans stop worrying about hispanics who can't speak English and start worrying about making sure their kids speak Spanish. This is the sort of accomodation at any cost that has made Europe a sissified shell of it's once proud self.

Though not shown in this clip he also mentions that it's "embarassing" when Europeans who speak multiple languages come here and so many of us only speak one.
Anybody else been "embarassed" by this? The only people embarassed by such things are those so hopelessly liberal that they'll do cartwheels to impress snotty European intellectuals.

Remember many European countries are the size of American states. If I had to speak a different language to order a drink in Chicago or get some tickets for a Cubs game then I'd be much more likely to have picked up that language. As it stands America is large enough and successful enough to set the pace and let others come over to our ways of doing things. Obama, like most liberals, is afraid to claim American exceptionalism. He wants to accomodate everybody and dares not risk any offense. It's typical but pathetic.

The reaction of the crowd is also telling of how far liberal sentiment has sunk. When he says he believes immigrants should learn English there is some faint applause. When he says we need to make sure our kids can speak Spanish there is a wave of applause that puts the first one to shame.

Blue collar Democrats, is this the kind of hope and change you can believe in? I didn't think so.

Trouble In Paradise

The New York Times editorial board ripped into Barack Obama yesterday and showed a level of naivete that previously had been reserved for Obama himself. They would do better to take the conservative approach to dealing with Obama's rhetoric: Don't believe a word he says.

A couple clips:

Now there seems to be a new Barack Obama on the hustings. First, he broke his promise to try to keep both major parties within public-financing limits for the general election. His team explained that, saying he had a grass-roots-based model and that while he was forgoing public money, he also was eschewing gold-plated fund-raisers. These days he’s on a high-roller hunt.

Even his own chief money collector, Penny Pritzker, suggests that the magic of $20 donations from the Web was less a matter of principle than of scheduling. “We have not been able to have much of the senator’s time during the primaries, so we have had to rely more on the Internet,” she explained as she and her team busily scheduled more than a dozen big-ticket events over the next few weeks at which the target price for quality time with the candidate is more than $30,000 per person.

We are not shocked when a candidate moves to the center for the general election. But Mr. Obama’s shifts are striking because he was the candidate who proposed to change the face of politics, the man of passionate convictions who did not play old political games.

Obama Paid Women Less Than Men

When Barack Obama said from on high that some people cling to guns and religion in response to their lot in life it didn't take long before it was pointed out that gun owners were on the whole wealthier and happier than non-gun owners.

These things tend to happen when you're in the business of talking yet don't know what you're talking about.

So after hearing Barack Obama go on and on about "equal pay" and the "women earn 77 cents ..." myth this past week it only seemed right that something deliciously inconvenient would pop up.

Well here's what popped up. Turns out Obama paid his Senatorial staffers with bigotry in his heart. The average salary for male staffers was $6,000 more than the average for female staffers.

There's probably a perfectly good explanation for this discrepancy, but then again there is when private businesses do it as well.

I'd also like to take a second to point out just how expensive congress and their staffers are to taxpayers. If Obama has 33 men at an average of $55,962 and 31 women at an average of $48,729, that works out to $3,357,345 just in Obama's office alone. I imagine many of these folks also have govt. expense accounts and what not. Just what exactly does Obama need 64 staffers for anyways?

Obama's Unthinkable Position On Babies Who Survive Abortions

I had heard rumblings about this, but hadn't read the facts until now.

Barack Obama is actually to the left of NARAL (National Abortion Rights Alliance) on an issue that should bother even the most hardened liberals.

While in the Illinois Senate Obama voted against and then killed a vote on a bill that would have made it a crime to leave a live baby to die OUTSIDE of the womb after being delivered.

The Induced Infant Liability Act was introduced to protect babies that survived late-term abortions and were born alive. Some doctors were actually just leaving them on the table to die over time.

Jill Stanek, a registered delivery-ward nurse who was the prime mover behind the legislation after she witnessed aborted babies' being born alive and left to die, testified twice before Obama in support of the Induced Infant Liability Act bills. She also testified before the U.S. Congress in support of the Born Alive Infant Protection Act.

Stanek told me her testimony "did not faze" Obama.

In the second hearing, Stanek said, "I brought pictures in and presented them to the committee of very premature babies from my neonatal resuscitation book from the American Pediatric Association, trying to show them unwanted babies were being cast aside. Babies the same age were being treated if they were wanted!"

"And those pictures didn't faze him [Obama] at all," she said.

If that doesn't animate some conservatives on the fence about being able to support a very moderate McCain then I don't know what will.

New McCain Ad

Now the whole idea of flip-flopping doesn't necessarily bother me as much as some people. Having been generally liberal as a teen and college student I necessarily flip-flopped on a whole host of issues in becoming a conservative. If John McCain cares to flip-flop on his destructive stance against drilling in ANWR then I'll cheer that awakening wholeheartedly.

The issue of Barack Obama breaking his pledge to take public financing however, is a different story. This is something he pledged on principle (that money corrupts politicians), a principle that is as important as any other in his message of bringing "change" to Washington.

By doing this Barack Obama showed the true believers what conservatives have seen all along: that he is simply another in a long line of dishonest politicians who will say whatever it takes to advance themselves and that he has no core principles.

This McCain ad hits Obama on this point and I'm pleasantly surprised. Perhaps they fired the guy who conceived his first "I'm John McCain and I hate war" ad and actually have some talented people ready to make this interesting. We can only hope.

Global Warming Hype Threatens A New Cost In Wisconsin

I came across this story on the Wisconsin Realtors Association website.

Our governor Jim Doyle, apparently batshit nuts, is considering the recommendation of his Climate Change Committee that any house being sold has to be completely upgraded to "green" appliances and fixtures before the transaction can be completed. This includes large ticket items like boilers/furnaces and central air units as well as refrigerators/freezers, washers, dryers, dishwashers, etc..

On an older house this could easily tack over $10,000 dollars onto the sale price.

Despite the lip service they pay to folks in lower income brackets the Democrats sure have no qualms about putting home ownership ever further out of their reach.

Just How Bad Are the Democrats On the Energy Issue?

Here's Jonah Goldberg's spot on summary of the Democrats schizophrenic energy position:

We need to be energy independent, but we can't use the energy sources we have. We need to switch to ethanol fast, but we can't import cheaper ethanol from Brazil. We must increase gas taxes to wean ourselves from fossil fuels, but when gas prices go up for any other reason, it's a crisis, even a crime. We're told we'll get nowhere drilling our way to independence or lower prices, as if windmills will do the job (stop laughing).

We shouldn't fight "wars for oil," but the self-imposed embargo on our own oil makes us even more dependent on the foreign oil we're allegedly going to war over. And, of course: We're told to reject the failed policies of the past, when the policies that have failed are the real old ones merely being sold as new.

Bush's Approval Rating More Than Double That of Democrat Led Congress

According to the latest Gallup Poll George Bush's approval rating is at a pathetic 13%, but the Democrat led Congress is at a near rock bottom 6%.

The Congress's 6% is the lowest ever approval rating for any U.S. institution.

If people are even more disgusted with the Democrat led Congress than they were the Republican Congress that led to the 2006 blowout then wouldn't it serve to reason that the Republicans would have an advantage in November? It would seem that way, but my guess is that a full 30-40% of those people polled would probably still tell you the Republicans controlled Congress.

How is that? I think that our civic knowledge being what it is that a good amount of people simply lump the president's administration in with congress. And with the news media certainly in no hurry to point out such distinctions, it's up to the Republican marketing team and their candidate to push the issue. So in other words nothing's gonna change.

Universal Healthcare. It's Really About the Children.

A woman in the UK was forced to give birth on the floor in a hospital hallway. Why? Because with universal healthcare there's only so much of everything to go around and on this particular day the beds of three local hospitals were all full.

This sort of reminds me of the scores of pregnant Canadian women shooed to the U.S. by unprepared Canadian hospitals.

Still want universal healthcare?

WI Democrats Vote To Expel Delegate Who Dared Disagree

Neil Boortz has said "Democracy is three wolves and one sheep voting on what's for dinner." This story in yesterday's Journal Sentinal highlights that reality.

Apparently one of the Wisconsin Democratic Party delegates to the national convention expressed her dissatisfaction with Barack Obama and announced her plan to vote for John McCain. Of course such insolance cannot be tolerated in the machine. So rather than letting this woman - whom it would appear payed her dues to reach her position - cast one lone and inconsequential vote against the orthodoxy, they voted unanimously to request the national party expel her from the convention.

Democrats don't like Fox News so their candidates boycott any Fox News debates.
Democrats don't like conservative radio exposing their failures so they start threatening the Fairness Doctrine again.
Barack Obama can't speak without his teleprompter so he ignores McCains suggestion of ten townhall meetings and agrees to one.
Now one lone delegate disagrees with them and they throw her out.

This is the party of open-mindedness and reconciliation?

Dem's Think Trashy Videos Will Help Them?

I had heard about this website/initiative before, but only happened across their website yesterday. The site is http://truththroughaction.org/

Here's their mission statement:

TruthThroughAction.org brings independent filmmakers together to create edgy online film and video content to support the Democratic Party, its issues and candidates.

Somebody should tell these guys there's been a group of folks making "film and video content to support the Democratic Party" for years. They're called Hollywood.

Anyways it says a lot about the Democratic Party if it's supporters think this video portrays them in a good light:

So a girl approaches and jumps into bed with a guy she's never met, finds out he's a Republican, says "Just like the last one" and runs away like a hysterical...okay like a liberal, bumps into a fellow Democrat on the street and he picks up her "I Only Sleep With Democrats" pin for her. Top of the world Mom! Go hyper-aggressive female promiscuity!

And if you didn't pay attention to the music in the background, the lyrics are rather fitting. Here's what I caught:

Patience is a virtue
But sex is so f*@$ing good
So let's stand here disrobing

Democrats..........

Oh, and they're also selling "I only sleep with Democrats" t-shirts and have included some classy pictures to support their party, raise awareness, act out, etc..

Naturally.

Isn't that the dude from Napoleon Dynamite? Still rockin the tighties I see.

If this doesn't make you think "Hey, these guys really should be running the country." then I don't know what could.

Cheese With That Whine?

Liberals might do well to refuse further participation in any surveys where ideological persuasion is noted. It seems every time a study of attitudes or habits comes out it leaves lefties with egg on their faces.

A few years ago it was the study of charitable giving that showed 24 of the top 25 most charitable states were Red States. There's also been the ongoing General Social Survey where conservatives have reported being happier than liberals in every year since the survey started in the 70's. Very recently, after Barack Obama's comments in Pennsylvania about people "bitter" about their economic situation clinging to guns and religion, it was revealed that both gun owners and self-identifying religious folks were happier, just as educated, and wealthier than those who weren't.

Today on National Review Online Peter Schweizer added a number of other comparisons where liberals come out looking like a mighty sad lot.:

Many observers believe that Barack Obama secured the liberal base of the Democratic party because he was antiwar from the beginning. But I think it’s because he mastered the art of complaining and won over the Whine Caucus. Today the Democratic party is dominated by groups making claims of victim status — blacks, Hispanics, Asians, Native Americans, unwed mothers, artists, pampered academics, environmental activists, the poor, the unemployed, animal rights activists, women, homosexuals. As Michael Crowley openly admits on Slate: “What does define and unify the [Democratic] party is a sense of victimhood.”

A wide body of research shows that modern liberals are much more likely to complain about things in their lives. Conservatives are more content with their lives. When asked “How satisfied are you with life these days? Sixty-six percent of conservatives said “very satisfied” compared with only 46 percent of liberals. Conservatives are more likely to say they love their jobs (53 percent vs. 41 percent) and even enjoy their hobbies more (63 percent vs. 51 percent). When asked by the Social Capital Survey whether they were satisfied with their income, liberals were more than three times as likely to say “not at all satisfied” — even when they earned the same as conservatives.

I think Michael Savage is guilty of going overboard a lot, but the premise of his book "Liberalism is A Mental Disorder" doesn't sound completely crazy after noting such consistent diaparities. While I wouldn't go so far as to call liberalism a mental disorder, I would call it a symptom of a seriously self-defeating mindset.

Schweizer goes on:

When it comes to something like housework, Democrats are much more likely to complain that the division of work in their home “is unfair to me” than Republicans. In fact, they are five times as likely to whine about it. Another study in The Journal of Applied Psychology found that feminist women do less housework than traditional women — but complain more about it.

On a more serious note, researchers writing in The American Journal of Psychiatry and The Journal of Marriage and Family found that liberals are more likely to attempt suicide than conservatives.

Liberals are also more likely to whine that they are unhappy in their marriages and declare that their health is “fair or poor” than conservatives. Even when you control for income, these gaps exist. Unless you are willing to believe that certain illnesses afflict only certain political groups, something else is at work here.

If only we had a balanced media we could sit back and watch red faced liberals try their hardest to explain this all away. Oh to dream...

Those Union-Busting Democrats

This is such a classic story. The Washington Post reveals that the Democrat led Senate voted to privatize their cafeteria service because the public, union run cafeteria has lost money for 37 out of 44 years it's been running. Dianne Feinstein called the food and service "noticeably subpar"

Even funnier is that the House turned their cafeteria over to a private company back in 1980 and has since received $1.2 million in commission as well as food and service that draws many from the Senate.

If only the RNC was savvy enough to use this stuff in commercials.

UPDATE: Jonah Goldberg has written a great article about this ironic turn as well as a few other notable government failures.

Obama Phenomenon Reinforces Liberal Stereotypes

If progressive minded people have tired of being branded hopelessly naive souls held hostage to their emotions then Obamamania certainly comes at a bad time.

300 million people in the United States and the Democrats choose one with next to no experience and a host of formidable skeletons in his closet. Why? Because he sounds good (though the unspoken offer to forever absolve one's white liberal guilt helps).

Here's a 15 second, simple, and straightforward commercial I'd love to hear from the inept marketing wing of the RNC:

At one time liberals thought Welfare sounded good.

They also thought public housing projects sounded good.

Many liberals still think New Age music sounds good.

And now they want Barack Obama to be the most powerful man in the world. Why? Because he sounds good.

Back here on Earth that's not going to cut it.

Don't vote Jackass this November.

Yesterday Mark Steyn had a great article that I'd suggest to everybody.

After quoting Obama's comment that people should remember this day as the day America began caring for it's sick Steyn noted that 47 people in the audience for Obama's speech were taken to the hospital for nausea, fainting, etc..

Not only does it highlight how pathetically hyper-emotional these people can be , but it raises a great point about "universal" healthcare. If Barack Obama works 47 people up into a frenzy of self-congratulation so intense they're hospitalized, should we as taxpayers have to foot the bill for that? Should genuinely sick people have to wait in line behind these space cadets while simultaneously chipping in for their care?

I would think the answer would be obvious, but then again it doesn't sound as good..

Dem's Letting Men Into Women's Locker Rooms

I keep saying it, but it doesn't always sink in: You don't have to be a rabid, hardly housebroken liberal to advance radical liberal causes. If you vote for Democrats and aren't actively working to marginalize their whacked out base then the radicals will be making the policies. Why? Because they care more about it than you. Activists find their reason for living in their pet causes, hence they spend ridiculous amounts of time and money in lobbying efforts to scare spineless politicians into caving to them.

That's how we get a story like this one in Colorado where their Democratic governor just signed a bill mandating "equal access" to all public facilities, including bathrooms and locker rooms. This means ladies, that if you're at the bar with your girlfriends and some creepy guy won't stop hitting on you, forget about heading to the bathroom to get away from him, he might just come with. If that strikes you as ridiculous there's more than enough people ready to call you "insensitive", "non-inclusive", and even "intolerant".

There's no way the majority of Democratic legislators who passed this bill actually believe it's a good thing, they are just operationally sissified by the dictates of a liberal worldview that forbids passing any judgements exept those against anti-non-judgementalists.

How "Chad Davis" Celebrated Memorial Day

This Memorial Day, while people across the country were paying their respects to our fallen soldiers, liberal troll "Chad Davis" found time to visit my blog and remind us all why "liberal" is still a dirty word.

In response to my posting on soldiers being harassed on D.C. public transit "Chad" wrote:

Oh no. Thugs who murdered innocent civilians are being verbally abused while riding a train. Too bad they can't make them pose in shameful ways and strip them of their civil rights.

May 26, 2008 9:50 AM

While Chad is to be commended for getting out of bed before noon, his sentiments are obviously repulsive.

Of course there's always a chorus ready to whine: "But that's just one person. He's not indicative of the rest of us!" Perhaps your everyday liberal shouldn't have to answer for somebody like "Chad's" particular hissy fits, but they still need to answer for this fact: While most liberals don't hate America or our troops, most people who hate America or our troops are liberals.

How many negative correlations do you suppose it takes before decent everyday liberals and Democrats begin to question how they could have so many allies who also happen to be adversaries of civil society.

As a liberal or Democrat today you know that:

-Nearly everytime you see somebody on the news rioting with a bandana over their face (or rioting period), they're on your side.

-Nearly everytime somebody is caught illegally soliciting votes from incarcerated felons, they're on your side.

-Nearly everytime somebody physically assaults or shouts down a speaker on a college campus, they're on your side.

-Nearly everytime someone's "political speech" entails a public sex act, they're on your side.

-Nearly everytime a Hollywood star enters rehab, or otherwise sets a new low for human behavior, they're on your side.

-Nearly everytime someone burns a political figure in effigy, they're on your side.

-Nearly everytime someone files a nuisance lawsuit against Christmas displays, they're on your side.

-Nearly everytime somebody defaces a military recruiting office, they're on your side.

-Nearly everytime a foreign dictator expresses their preference in an American presidential race, they're on your side.

-Most of the time (70%) when military personnel and their families step into the voting box, they're not voting for your side (Based on '04 presidential race).

I don't know about you, but any one of those would make me think twice about such an association.

More of the Left Supporting The Troops

Via Little Green Footballs below I've got a letter sent to military personnel in the D.C. area from the DOT's Transit Administration regarding the harassment of members of the military on D.C. transit.

How pathetic that this happens in our nation's capitol. Even more pathetic though is that fellow passengers would let something like this go on without responding in such a way as to make national news. I'd like to see a headline like: LOCAL ACTIVIST THREATENS SOLDIER, IS STRIPPED NAKED AND BEATEN WITH NEWSPAPERS BY SUBWAY MOB

One of the incidents involved a female member who was berated on the train and again on the platform by an activist. Assuming it was a man who did this I wouldn't think twice about putting him down. As for the repercussions of that, do you really think a jury wouldn't understand?

Here's the letter:

Washington D.C.
Dept of Transportation Federal Transit Administration sends:

Recently, there have been local incidents in which military personnel have been verbally assaulted while commuting on the Metro. Uniformed members have been approached by individuals expressing themselves as anti-government, shouting anti-war sentiments, and using racial slurs against minorities.

In one instance, a member was followed onto the platform by an individual who continued to berate her as she exited the metro station. Thus far, these incidents have occurred in the vicinity of the Reagan National Airport and Eisenhower Ave metro stations on the yellow line, however, military members should be vigilant and aware of their surroundings at all times while in mass transit.

Should you be approached by any individuals expressing anti-government/anti-war sentiments, or any other types of direct verbal assault, immediately notify your local police jurisdiction. If riding metro, exit the train at the next stop, distance yourself from the individual, and notify the Metro Transit Police Department. ...

Here are a few friendly reminders of personal protective measures that can help you to stay safe:

- If possible, do not commute in uniform (military members)

- Do not display DoD building passes, “hot cards”, or personal identification in open view outside of the workplace

- Do not discuss specifics about your occupation to outside solicitors

- Always try to remain in well lit, well populated train cars if traveling via metro

- Be vigilant at all times!

A Dynamite Rebuke of the Democrats by One of Their Own

Check out Joe Lieberman's round denunciation of his former party's foreign policy in today's Wall Street Journal.

He puts the evolution of their current defeatism in a timeline that begins with the strong stances of Roosevelt, Truman, and Kennedy, then ends with the appeasment mentality of Barack Obama.

That he called out Obama by name in the Wall Street Journal is no small sidenote. That he then went on to praise McCain drives the nail further.

Let's See How Much Press This Press Release Gets

ADVISORY: Dr. Arthur Robinson (OISM) to Release Names of over 30,000 Scientists Rejecting Global Warming Hypothesis

May 15, 2008 12:39 PM EDT

Oregon Institute of Science and Medicine (OISM)

Who: Dr. Arthur Robinson of the OISM

What: release of names in OISM "Petition Project"

When: 10 AM, Monday May 19

Where: Holeman Lounge at the National Press Club, 529 14th St., NW, Washington, DC

Why: the Oregon Institute of Science and Medicine (OISM) will announce that more than 31,000 scientists have signed a petition rejecting claims of human-caused global warming. The purpose of OISM's Petition Project is to demonstrate that the claim of "settled science" and an overwhelming "consensus" in favor of the hypothesis of human-caused global warming and consequent climate damage is wrong. No such consensus or settled science exists. As indicated by the petition text and signatory list, a very large number of American scientists reject this hypothesis.

It is evident that 31,072 Americans with university degrees in science - including 9,021 PhDs, are not "a few." Moreover, from the clear and strong petition statement that they have signed, it is evident that these 31,072 American scientists are not "skeptics."

Ridiculous Abuse of Power by Child Protective Services

I realize that Child Protective Services are necessary to protect children from parents who are chronically irresponsible and perhaps criminally minded. However I also realize that sometimes the providers of such services can get so caught up in the righteousness of their intentions that they actually make things worse.

Here is one instance where it sounds like that was the case:

In April a University of Michigan archaelogy professor took his seven year old son to a Detroit Tigers game and ended up forcibly removed from his chid, wife, and home. If it sounds strange, that's because it is.

During the game the man made the honest mistake of buying his son a Mike's Hard Lemondade from the refreshment stand. He said he had never heard of the brand before and had no idea it contained 5 percent alcohol.

After a security guard spotted the boy with the bottle and notified the father, the two were rushed to the hospital via ambulance. If that sounds like overkill, that's because it is. Still the boy was cleared as being in normal health.

Unfortunately a police supervisor recommended the case be turned over to the Child Protective Services. The CPS came to the hospital and took the child, keeping him in their custody for three days before a judge ordered him returned home to his mother (also a U of M professor) against CPS's requests.

Still the judge set the condition that the father must leave the house. He was forced to live in a hotel and not allowed to see his family until things were finally settled five days later.

I call gross misuse of power on the police supervisor, the CPS, and the judge here.

Obama Caught Fibbin

One News Story, About Ten Arguments Against Liberalism

Sometimes a story comes along where you don't even need to say anything to make your point. This is one of those stories.

You can read all the details here, but here's the short version:
Afghan guys hijack a plane. They fly it to England and threaten to kill passengers unless granted asylum. England jails them then releases them. English government gives them roughly $300,000 a year to live on. British Airways hires one of the men to work at Heathrow Airport.

Yesterday Was Perfect

George Will had a great article yesterday which made a great point.

His point is that those who drink the global warming Kool-Aid and those who are screaming bloody murder about the housing "crisis" both make one huge assumption. The huge assumption is that they can identify when things were perfect.

Temperatures around the globe have been in constant flux since the beginning of time, but the rabid environmentalists are of the opinion that the temperature we just passed was perfect. People in Siberia might not agree.

There's pluses and minuses of any climate change. Higher rates of tropical disease may come with rising temps, but cold weather also stresses the immune system as people stay indoors more.

Some coastal areas might have to retreat from rising tides, but usable land will emerge from beneath ice sheets in places like Canada or Greenland where melting ice has revealed signs of former civilization.

Likewise, those people reporting lower housing prices with ever more grave expressions completely rule out the possibility that home prices were too high to begin with.

The Economist reported back in '05 that worldwide home prices had been growing faster than they ever had in history and that we should prepare for

Will asks whether a young couple looking for their first house would consider the lower prices to be a "crisis".

It's slightly ironic that the left has made such hay from falling home prices while simultaneously proclaiming themselves the champions of the poor. Every dollar the average home price drops is -to borrow their terminology- one step closer we come to universal "access" to home ownership.

More of the Wright Stuff

Here's some more Reverend Jeremiah Wright quotes from the past via The Weekly Standard. Considering that Wright warned Obama his church might be too perceived as too radical and now that it's public knowledge Oprah left because of such rhetoric, it's going to be hard for Obama to weasel out of the horrible judgement charge:

--"White supremacy is the bed rock of the philosophical, ideological and theological foundations of this country."

--"Some analysts would go so far as to even call what [the United States, the G-8, and multinational corporations] are doing [in Africa] genocide!"

--He referred to the "sick and myopic arrogance called Western History."

--"We need to educate our children to the reality of white supremacy.

We need to educate our children about the white supremacist's foundations of the educational system.

When the levees in Louisiana broke alligators, crocodiles and piranha swam freely through what used to be the streets of New Orleans. That is an analogy that we need to drum into the heads of our African American children (and indeed all children!).

In the flood waters of white supremacy ... there are also crocodiles, alligators and piranha!

The policies with which we live now and against which our children will have to struggle in order to bring about "the beloved community," are policies shaped by predators.

We lay a foundation, deconstructing the household of white supremacy with tools that are not the master's tools. We lay the foundation with hope. We deconstruct the vicious and demonic ideology of white supremacy with hope. Our hope is not built on faith-based dollars, empty liberal promises or veiled hate-filled preachments of the so-called conservatives. Our hope is built on Him who came in the flesh to set us free."

Hey, at least he said "empty liberal promises". Maybe he's only 90% crazy.

Former Gitmo Detainee Commits Suicide Attack in Iraq

A former Guantanamo Bay detainee recently released by the Kuwaiti government was found to have committed a recent suicide bombing in Iraq.

Apparently 36 other released detainees have been found to be fighting against us already. I just read that a few more than 200 prisoners have been released so far making it almost a 20% "recidivism" rate. 20% is pretty bad when you're dealing with terrorists rather than petty criminals.

Did Farrakhan Admit Nation of Islam's Responsibility for Malcolm X's Death?

Please forgive me for being about 13 years late on this point, but if I'd never heard such a thing before then I suppose there's a good chance many of you didn't either.

This came to my attention via this Christopher Hitchens article in Slate today. The article primarily asks how sure we are that Michelle Obama isn't a rather radical influence on her husband. He cites her college thesis announcing how influenced she was by the definition of black "separationism" put forth by Stokely Carmichael and Charles Hamilton.

What jumped out at me though was his reference to a 1995 film called Brother Minister in which a secretly taped Louis Farrakhan says to a group at the Nation of Islam Temple in Chicago: "Did you teach Malcolm? . . . Did you clean up Malcolm? . . . Was Malcolm your traitor or ours? And if we dealt with him like a nation deals with a traitor, what the hell business is it of yours?"

This seems to me like something so explosive that it would have become common knowledge immediately, much less after 13 years. Half of America knows who uttered "Hymietown", but few seem to know about this?

This also turns Reverend Jeremiah Wright from a loudmouth idiot into a much darker character once his close affiliation with Farrakhan is considered.

Was anybody else aware of this?
